Vintage came quickly and early this year, with harvest officially kicking off August 15th, with our La Crescent. This was followed by the rest of our Estate grapes of Frontenac, Frontenac Blanc, and Frontenac Gris all arriving by the 22nd, as well as a bit of Sauv Blanc from California. Here and through the West Coast it has been a warm year and ripening is ahead of schedule on average.
Our young estate vines are starting to mature and increase production, as this year we received about triple the tonnage of our Estate Line-up than we did last year. Avoiding a June frost definitely helped! So, those of you who missed out on some of the Estate wines this year should be able to grab your share next spring!
Our Rattlesnake Hills, WA, Chardy is set for picking on the 3rd of September, and the Riesling looks like the end of September for picking. Chardonnay has been our most requested wine to add to our line-up. We have asked, and we have heard, so rest assured that will be available next year to all you chardy lovers out there.
The frontenac was the first of our reds to come in, and we are about 3-4 weeks out from the beginning of the red onslaught. With Cab and Syrah from both Horse Heaven Hills and The Rocks District due to arrive, as well as our Russian River Zinfindel.
We also have a mystery red and white lined up to arrive, which will be premium, small batch, and Purple Sky Club exclusive. These club exclusive wines are set to rotate each year to offer new, fun, different, and delicious wines. But what is the Purple Sky Club you ask? Well, it’s a little thing we are working on and planning to launch early next year, so keep an eye out as we post more information on this.
We have our first event scheduled for the 12th of September. A Harvest Luau featuring Luau Pig traditionally roasted in the ground by our Hawaiian born chefs. It will feature a line up of mouth watering island dishes and wines to go along with the island vibes. The winemaking team will also be giving a tour of our facility to show how the magic is made. The space is limited, but if you missed your chance to join, don’t worry, there will be more events in the months to come. Especially for those who join the previously mentioned Purple Sky Club!
